Luigi's Mansion Party - VR Dark Ride

This project was meant to act as a theoretical proto-type for a theme park. Nintendo World was chosen with the Luigi's Mansion serving as the IP. Constraints included the ride being roughly 4 minutes, simple and easy to use systems, and to ensure there were no issues playing in VR (no motion sickness). We worked with a subject matter expert (SME) to get advice about how theme parks make their dark rides and how to approach our design. Many Nintendo assets were borrowed from online.
Although I joined two weeks into the project, my role was to draw out and design the central pool area (which would be themed after The Legend of Zelda) and the last segment featuring King Boo. Since I was designing the pool, it felt natural that I would choose to theme it after The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, which takes place in a vast ocean. I made the pools look similar to islands and made the back half a beached ghost ship. The initial pathing for this room added an entire 30 extra seconds to the ride. Many ghosts and coins had to be moved to accommodate a shorter route that shows less of the room but still shows off the key spots.
It was decided from the start that the ride would end with a fight against King Boo, but we weren't sure how it should play out. I came up with an idea and asked our programmers to create a suck up and shoot mechanic with the vacuum. I designed a long hallway with bombs laid around for players to suck up and shoot at King Boo. I decided this is how he would be fought so that players could score individually and keep the competitive spirit.
